My first trip wine tasting

My Vitrix Blogs

I must admit that just a few years ago, I couldn’t stand the taste of wine. I remember my parents drinking red wine and thinking how can they actually be enjoying that bitter taste? They said to me “it’s an acquired taste, and one day you will enjoy it too.” I am not much a drinker whatsoever and I only began trying wine about three years ago. One evening at a dinner party I was served a sweeter white wine called a Riesling. I was actually surprised that I could tolerate a glass.   I began to enjoy sweeter whites like a Moscato, Riesling and Gewurztaminer. I strongly recommend these wines to anyone who doesn’t care for wine just yet. Next I moved over to the red side after the suggestion from a waiter to try a Pinot Noir. This is currently my favorite because it is so very smooth and light.

This past weekend I had the pleasure of taking my first trip to go wine tasting in Temecula. I had no idea how much fun this would be!! It was a beautiful warm sunny afternoon when we arrived at the first of our four winery stops. When you begin your tasting (generally you sample 5-7 wines per tasting), they hand you a wine glass and you select the wines you would like to sample from their menu.

The best part wasn’t just the all the wine (although a definite plus), being out in the country, spending time with friends, enjoying the fellowship and just relaxing is what made this such a memorable experience. It was a great learning experience for an amateur wino and I can’t wait to visit Santa Barbra and Napa wine country

Food Labeling...BEWARE!

Many folks read food labels to gain better insight on the foods they choose. However, with so many claims plastered on labels, things can get really confusing. Even worse, food companies use these claims to push certain products and make you think they’re healthier than they really are. We’ve rounded up the top 10 food label boobie traps.

A new year, a new journey...COLLEGE

I have to admit I never applied myself in High School.  I put all of my focus on sports, friends and of course boys.  I always had such a hard time focusing while in class and studying, that I began to hate school.  Once I graduated from High School, I dove into the gym and prepping for my first fitness competition.  I attending two semesters at a local college, but never succeeded or cared because my life revolved around my competitions.  I have always been so intimidated by school because it was never something I excelled at…or was even good at. I am truly thankful that I have been successful thus far, without having a college education.  BUT there are avenues in my life/career I wish I would have chosen, but they do require proper education and training.

In my life, I set goals for myself and have gained a tremendous amount of strength, knowledge, and accomplishment by achieving them. At 27 years old, I have accomplished every major goal I have ever set for myself, but there is this one big scary thing I’ve avoided for so long.  So 2011 is a fresh new beginning and the start of my college education. This is probably one of the most challenging goals I have set for myself because let’s face it; I have an extremely short attention span! You know what they say about challenges, “The harder the challenge; the more rewarding the triumph.”

I challenge you to join me and create goals for yourself that really stretch you as a person. It won’t be easy, but I promise it will be worth it!!

Are you ready for some FOOTBALLLLLLLLL

I am very excited for this weekend as the NFL playoffs begin!!!!!!!!!!! Watching football reminds me of being a kid, hanging out my Dad, Uncles and family on Sundays. Our family would always get together, gather around the TV in our game room on the edge of their seats screaming &/or cheering. I do recall a time or two (numerous) where “someone” has been so upset, that they dropped down and began pounding their fist on the ground. I’m sure many people are guilty of such emotions while watching your team play (it’s ok Dad, you’re not the only one I’m sure.) Living in Northern California I was raised a 49’er fan (don’t laugh I know they’re horrible) and no matter how good or bad they were, my family was still dedicated fans which I find admirable.

Fast forward to present day. After living in San Diego, meeting a few of the Chargers, and being in a city where everyone is such HARDCORE fans was contagious! I am totally bummed that their season of 9-7 ended, missing the playoffs. However, the Saints are still in the game and I feel like they will only improve during playoffs to defend their reigning title! The Chargers couldn’t pull it together, but I still got the Saints!! Which reminds me; my Bush jersey was ordered two months ago and has been on backorder ever since!! So annoying!!! I just got a confirmation that It will be here end of the week…perfect timing for their win this Saturday against the Seahawks!!! WO DAT~

xoxo,
